Our Story

The Unnatural State of Being a Working Mom

As a school innovator, scientist, and foster-to-adopt mom,

I am used to working hard and late. Yet, having a baby created a new pace inside of me. As I returned to work, I realized that being away from my daughter all day felt unnatural. If only there were a way to have nursery care, socialization, and a little remote office. My mom, newly retired from a 40-year career as Director and Professor of Early Childhood Education, began to watch my 4-month-old for me. Having the ability to work remotely and breastfeed or participate in lunch together has been such a joy!

Returning to a natural state of motherhood and returning to the rhythm of nature has provided me great peace.

Hence, The Little Blue Creche was born. In France, the Creche is a nursery school with highly trained staff for children 0-3 years old. The Creche also acts as a social meeting ground for families as they connect around this new family stage.

We aim to open in Summer 2025. Our toddler program will include a Reggio Emilia-style preschool with Forest Fridays, and our nursery program will have outdoor time in our garden. Both options include a co-work membership. This model allows mothers to breastfeed and families to connect with their young children throughout the workday.
